EMERGENCY EVACUATION KITS or "GO-BAGS"
Each of your household pets have different needs; therefore, you will need to take this into consideration when preparing emergency kits or "Go Bags". These kits should be assembled in easy-to-carry, waterproof containers.  Store them where they are easily accessible and away from areas of extreme temperatures.    Listed below are emergency items to include.  For the "pocket pets', birds, and reptiles, the items listed is in addition to the pertinent items listed under Dogs & Cats: *

DOGS & CATS
  • 2-week supply of food (dry or canned)
  • 2-week supply of water in plastic gallon jugs
  • Food and water bowls
  • Can opener / spoon (canned food)
  • Sturdy crates/carriers for each pet.  Should be large enough for pets to stand comfortable, turn around and lie down.  Label with your contact information
  • Blankets or towels for bedding
  • Copies of veterinary records and proof of ownership
  • Medications:  Include dose.  Provide veterinary and pharmacy contact information for refills
  • Diet records for each pet; note any food allergies
  • Current photos of you and pets together
  • Emergency contact list
  • Extra collars / harnesses, leashes
  • Familiar pet toys
  • Disposable dog waste bags
  • Litter pan / litter
  • First-Aid Kit with instruction manual
  • Flashlight with extra batteries
  • Maps: local area and alternate evacuation routes
